Instructions

1. Divide children into pairs.
2. Write a red "1" on one partner's hand, and a blue "2" on the other
partner's hand.
3. During a story or presentation, when asking the group a question,
instruct the "number ones" to give their answers to their partners (the
"number twos") or vice versa.
4. In this way, each child will be able to express her own opinion.
5. Listen to what the partners say. Say, "I heard partners saying __________.
That's a good answer!"
More to do Cut out a stop sign from red paper and write "Stop" on it. On the other side,
attach a green piece of paper (same size) and write "Go" on it. Tape or glue
this to a craft stick. When it's time for children to talk to their partners, show
the green side of the sign. When it's time to stop talking, flip the sign to the
stop side.
