Small vinyl tablecloth
permanent markers assorted propsInstructions
1. To prepare, draw a 16- to 20-square grid on the tablecloth using permanent
markers. The number of grids will depend on the size of the cloth. You will
need different props to put into each square, such as an empty two-liter
bottle, plastic or stuffed animals, beanbags, poker chips, and so on.
2. Spread the tablecloth on the floor and put objects ("pins") into some of the
squares and leave some empty.
3. Give each child a beanbag and take turns knocking down the "pins." Tell the
children that they may play with their beanbags in their own space while
waiting to play.
4. If a child knocks over a pin, she can put it back up in any square she desires.
If she lands on an empty square, she may move a pin to that square. This way
the pins are always moving around.
