Instructions

1. Invite the children to recite the following rhyme.One potato, two potato, three potato, four.Five potato, six potato, seven potato more.

2. Encourage the children to pound one fist on the top of the other fist, and back and forth, until the rhyme is over.

3. After they learn the original rhyme, say the rhyme in a new and different way:One potato, two potato, three potato, four.Five potato, six potato, seven potato more.Eight potato, nine potato, ten potato high,Now let's make a sweet potato pie.

4. Do the same hand motions with the new rhyme. This time, start pounding your fists low, and go higher as you count higher (like going up a ladder).
