Materials

Teacher's socks, purchased or decorated to relate to a book

White paper

Pencil

Thin black marker

Scissors

Colored pencils or washable markers

Instructions

1. Give each child a piece of white construction paper and a paintbrush.2. Encourage the children to dip their paintbrushes into glue and "paint" a rainbow shape on the paper.3. Go outside.4. Ask the children to stand in a circle and hold up their paper.5. Along with other adults, toss colored popcorn into the air and encourage the children to catch it with their papers. When the children have caught all the popcorn, go back inside to see the colored rainbows!Note: The birds and squirrels will be happy to "clean up" the remaining popcorn.
