Instructions
1. Cut two of each of the following shapes from sandpaper: circle, square,
triangle, rectangle, star, and oval.
2. Show them to the children, encouraging them to feel them.
3. Place them all into a box or bag. Ask the children to reach into the bag and
feel the shapes without looking. Can they identify the shapes?
4. Ask a child to pull out a shape, without looking, and place it on the table.
5. Now challenge him to reach in and try to find a match by feeling for it.
More to do
Art: Encourage the children to use the sandpaper shapes to draw around, or to
make a shape rubbing.
