Sturdy canvas or vinyl tote bag
yellow felt or fabric star shape
fabric glue or thread and needle
Instructions
1. Prepare a tote bag by attaching a felt star to the front of the bag. Write a
letter to parents explaining the purpose of the bag and examples of what the
child can bring to school the next day to show.
2. As the school year begins, each day give a different child the "Star of the
Day" bag to bring home and fill with special objects to show the class the
next day. This activity will help children learn more about their new friends
3. Examples of items from home might be family pictures, pictures of family pets,
favorite stories, favorite toys or games, a favorite doll or stuffed toy, pictures of
the child as a baby, and enough of their favorite snack to share with the class.
