Materials

Scissors Paintbrush

Large cardboard box Black or dark blue tempera paint

Glow-in-the-dark planet and star stickers Glow-in-the-dark glue or paint

Instructions

1. Cut a semi-circular hole in one side of the box.

2. Paint the inside and outside of the box and allow it to dry.

3. Stick planets and stars in a random pattern onto the inside of the box.

4. Fill in the dark background with dots of glow paint or glue to add depth.

5. Let the inside of the box absorb light.

6. Give children turns putting their heads in the box while they lie on the floor to give them a feeling of weightlessness.

7. Cover the hole to seal out any light. Enjoy the trip.More to doArt: Using paper towel rolls, make rocket ships. Children can decorate them with markers, stickers, refractive paper, glitter. * Punch holes in the bottom of a cardboard oatmeal box in the patterns of constellations. Hold up to the light to view the stars.
