What to do
1. Help the children write their names on their papers and turn them over.
2. Fill the pan with 1" (3 cm) of water. A small amount of glycerin can be added to water for a
long-lasting product.
3. Encourage the children to choose a color. An adult should then spray the surface of the water
with the chosen color.
4. Encourage the child to stir the paint with a stick (the paint will float) and then, using tongs, gently
slide the paper into the pan on top of the water so that the paper lays on top of the paint.
5. Have the child gently pull out the paper and watch as paint is lifted from the water onto the
paper.
6. Place the artwork on a drying rack to dry.
More to do
More art: Use the colored paper for other purposes such as drawing, painting, card making, and
book covers.
