Instructions
1. Talk with the children about how large groups of ants work and live in their
anthills. Talk about how they travel in groups.
2. Ask the children to imagine what it would feel like if a group of ants walked
into their pants. Tell them, "If this ever happened to me, this is what I would
do..." With arms up, wiggle your wrists and fingers next to your head, bend
your knees slightly, hop from one foot to the other in a circular direction, and
shout, "Aaaaaaah!"
3. Explain that you'll all be doing an activity that will move and stretch your
bodies. Ask the children to follow your commands. When you say, "Ants in
your pants!" the children should repeat your silly dance.
4. You can say, "Touch your toes. Rub your belly. Reach for the sky. Ants in your
pants!" Continue with other combinations of movements, such as "Put your
hands on your head. Bend your knees. Ants in your pants!"
