Instructions

* Create a set of picture cards to use in a flash card game. On most cards, draw
or glue pictures of ordinary objects and animals. On at least four of the cards,
put a picture of a bee and print the word "BUZZ."
What to Do
1. Talk with the children about bees. Ask the children to describe the
sound that bees make, and how it differs from the sounds other
insects make.
2. Shuffle all the cards together.
3. Flip through the cards one at a time, and ask the children to identify the
pictures and beginning sounds.
4. When you come to a bee card, everyone jumps up and "buzzes"
around, pretending to be bees.
5. Call out the name of a part of the body, like knees. Have the children
stop and touch their knees gently to another child's knees and freeze in
that position.
6. When everyone is in the freeze position with knees touching, ask them to sit
down.
7. Continue the game as before.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Observe how the children are able to name the pictures correctly and give
the correct beginning sounds.
* Do they listen and follow directions and display knowledge of body parts?
