black plastic spider rings (found at party stores)

Spider on the Floor by Raffi

Singable Songs for the Very Young by Raffi (optional)

CD or tape player

Instructions

* Halloween is celebrated on October 31st.
1. Give each child a plastic spider ring.
2. Encourage the children to sing and act out some spider songs, such as
"Itsy Bitsy Spider."
3. Read Spider on the Floor to the children.
4. If available, play Raffi's song "Spider on the Floor" (found on Singable
Songs for the Very Young) and have children act it out with the spider
rings.
More to do Books: Take pictures of the children with the spider rings on different parts
of their bodies. Make the photos part of a "Spider on the Floor" class book.
