Materials

Lightweight cardboard circles, 4" (10 cm) in diameter, one per child

Pencil

Hole punch

Glue sticks

Silver glitter

Zip-closure sandwich bags or a disposable aluminum pie pan

Yarn or thin ribbon, one 8" (20 cm) piece per child

Scissors

Instructions

1. Ahead of time, draw a snowflake pattern on each cardboard circle, or invite the children to drawtheir own snowflake pattern. Punch a hole near the edge.

2. Invite the children to trace over the snowflake pattern with a glue stick.

3. Put some silver glitter in a zip-closure plastic bag, and have the children drop in their circles. Letthe children shake the bag, then remove the circle and shake off the excess glitter.

4. Help the children secure or loop the ribbon to the hole in the circle.

Hang the snowflakes from the ceiling, on a doorknob, or in front of a window.More to doMore art: Older children can draw their own snowflake designs and/or cut designs in the cardboardwith scissors.
