What to Do
1. Point to each number on the poster. Ask the children to identify each number.

3. Put all but one of the numbers on the felt soup pot. Say, "Look at the felt soup
pot. One number from 1 to 10 is missing. Which one is not there?" Help the
children identify the missing number by counting the numbers.
4. Ask the children to write their names on the papers and practice writing
numbers.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
* Ask the children to say the numbers as they glue them on their papers. Use
other props like posters to reinforce the numbers visually.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
* Put the children's soup pot numbers on the wall. Can the children tell you
about their soup pots?
* When you take one of the numbers out of the soup pot, can the children tell
you which number is missing?
* Can the children count the numbers in the soup pot?
