Instructions

1. Give each child a stuffed animal, animal puppet, or play animal.
2. Sing "Mary Had a Little Lamb" with the children.
Mary had a little lamb,
Little lamb,
Little lamb,
Mary had a little lamb
Whose fleece was white as snow.
3. In turn, ask each to child say his name, his animal's name, and one thing
about the animal.
4. Incorporate the child's name, animal, and fact about the animal into a
personal song. For example, "Joey had a little dog," or "Taylor had a little
cat."
5. Sing the personalized songs. For example:
Joey had a little dog,
Little dog,
Little dog.
Joey had a little dog
Whose ears were black and brown.
