Instructions

1. Gather a pile of snow.
2. Ask the children whether snow melts faster in the sun or shade.
3. Put snow in paper cups. Put some of the cups in the sun and some in the
shade.
4. Observe which melts faster.
5. Measure how much water comes from melted snow.

shape with hands)
I'm small and round at the top. (reach up and trace a small circle)
And in the middle I'm medium-sized, (draw a circle in front of you with
both hands)
And I carry a broom or a mop. (pretend to hold a broom or mop)
I stand up tall on each frosty day, (stand very straight)
But when it gets warm, I melt away. (sink to the floor)
