Materials
Felt in a variety of colors 3" letter stencils and 3" closed hand pattern, optionalscissors flannel board
Instructions
1. Cut out 3" letters (B-I-N-G-O) in a variety of colors and five 3" closed (clapping together) hands.
2. Put the letters B-I-N-G-O on the flannel board. Sing the first verse of "Bingo."3. Explain to the children that as they continue to sing each verse of the song, one child will remove the letter you indicate, and another child will put a felt hand in its place. Each time they sing the song, the children will substitute a clap for a letter when they see the hand.
4. Encourage the correct response by asking the class, "How many hands do you see?" (One.) "How many times will we clap?" (Once.)5. To help the children, clap in a slightly exaggerated manner each time a hand appears and count the claps aloud. ("One-two-N-G-O.")Tip: This activity lets many children participate at the flannel board. If a few children do not get an opportunity to use the flannel board, they can stand next to you during the last verse and help lead the clapping.
