The yellow will end up on the bottom and the red on the top. (Later, when the bottleis shaken, the two colors will mix to make the color orange; after a few moments, the colorswill separate again). Do the same for the other bottles using any of these color mixtures:red and blue for purple; yellow and blue for green; blue and green for turquoise; red waterand clear oil for pink.Note: Make sure the caps are on tight and taped to the bottle so that the children won't betempted to open them up.
2. Before introducing the bottles, work on the signs for colors with the children.
3. When the children have learned the signs, show them the bottles. Ask them to sign the colorin the top half of a bottle, then sign the color in the bottom half. Ask them to guess andshow you the sign for the color they think they will see when you shake the bottles. Shake thebottles and see if they guessed right.More to doMore science: Put the colored bottles out on the science table for the children to shake. Smallerchildren can lay the bottles on their sides to mix the colors if shaking them is too difficult.
