Instructions

1. Have each child make three stacks of blocks using the following color patterns
(if there are not enough blocks, let children make stacks in small groups, or
make one set of stacks for the entire group):
l stack 1: red, blue, yellow
l stack 2: red, blue, green
l stack 3: red, blue, green, and yellow.
2. Sing the following song, encouraging the children to point to the correct stack
of blocks for each verse.

(Tune: "Are You Sleeping?")
Red, blue, yellow, Red, blue, green, and yellow,
Red, blue, yellow. Red, blue, green, and yellow.
Red, blue, green, Red, blue, green,
Red, blue, green. Red, blue, green.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Ask younger children to dismantle the blocks and then recreate the stacks as
they sing the song. This helps promote listening skills, as well as helps the
children develop their visual memory.
l For older children, set out crayons and paper and challenge them to draw the
stacks, putting the correct colors in the correct order.
