Instructions

1. This game is best played in a large room. Put up signs for four to six
stores in different areas of the room (toy store, bakery, deli, shoe store,
and so on).
2. Make up a shopping list (bread, sneakers, hamburger, cheese, and so on).
3. Ask the children to stand in the center of the room. Tell them they have
to run to the correct store to get the item you call out. For example, if
you call out, "doll," they would run to the toy store.
4. If desired, hold up objects and say, "Run to the store where you would
buy this!" rather than using words.
More to do Math: Encourage children to practice buying goods with real or artificial
money.
