Instructions

1. Collect and set up all the materials on a table.

2. Talk about pennies, money and the proper handling of money.

3. Discuss two ways to make the pennies shine and assign the children to two groups. Demonstrate each method: rub the pennies on carpet until they shine, or drop the pennies into a vinegar and salt solution.

4. Make a comparison chart of the two methods showing which was better, quicker, messier, more fun, etc. Keep in mind that small cuts or scrapes on the children's hands will sting if vinegar or salt gets into them.More to doLanguage: What would I do with a shiny penny?
