Instructions

1. Ahead of time, use tape to make a large circle on the rug, big enough for four or five children to stand inside it.

2. Teach the children this simple song to the tune of "Someone's in the Kitchen with Dinah."Someone's in the circle with Jason,Someone's in the circle, it's true-uuu.Someone's in the circle with Jason,Waiting for a friend like you!3. Choose a child to stand in the circle and sing the song with the children. Then ask the child inside the circle to choose a friend to join her. Continue until several children have a turn and then choose a new leader.

4. Repeat with a large square, triangle, and so on.

5. As a variation, collect items from the classroom that are the same shape to place into the large masking tape shape on the rug.
