Instructions
1. Cut out one of each shape from different colors of construction paper (circle, square, triangle, star, oval, diamond, and rectangle). Each shape should be a different color.
2. Glue each shape to a piece of tagboard or sturdy paper. Put each shape on a separate page. Number each page at the bottom right.
3. Write the name of each shape on a strip of paper. Glue each strip under the shape on the page.
4. Laminate the pages, using contact paper or a laminator.
5. Punch two holes at the top of each page (top left and top right) and string the rings through to hold the pages together.
6. Gather the children for circle time.
7. Hold up the new book and tell them you have a new book about shapes.
8. Go through the book with them once, and see if the children can name all the shapes in the book.
9. Read the book again and point out the page numbers at the bottom of each page.
10. Take the book apart and invite the children to put the pages in order according to the page numbers.
