* Groundhog Day is February 2nd.
1. To prepare, trace assorted classroom objects on black
paper and cut them out. Glue them randomly to
white paper.
2. At circle time, place all the traced objects into a
container or bag. Have each child draw one out of
the bag and match it to the shape outline on the
white paper.
3. During center time, place the container of objects and
the white paper of object outlines on the table or rug
for children to match the objects independently.
More to do Games: Play shadow tag.
Literacy: Make a groundhog puppet and look for stories in the news about
Groundhog Day (February 2nd).
Science: Do shadow experiments with objects and flashlights. Move the
light over an object to show how the angle of the light or the distance
changes the size of a shadow.
