What to Do
1. Cut shapes from paper for demonstration purposes. Draw another shape on
the back of one the cut-out shapes.
2. Say, "We are going to draw a different shape on the back of this shape. It is a
secret shape for now."
3. Ask the children to cut their shapes from the paper.
4. Help the children write their names and the names of their secret shapes on
the backs of the cut-out shapes.
5. During circle or group time, ask the children to put their shapes up in the air,
and then to turn their shapes around to reveal their secret shapes.
6. Ask each child to say the name of his secret shape aloud.
7. Collect all the shapes and place them in a pile. Create patterns from the shapes
within the circle.
