Materials

picture of a scarecrow

scarecrow costume (hat, jeans or overalls, straw or hay) (optional)

Instructions

1. If desired, dress in scarecrow clothes. Stuff straw or hay into shirt sleeves
and pant legs.
2. Show the children the picture of the scarecrow. Discuss how and why a
scarecrow scares away crows.
3. Tell the children that they are going to pretend to be scarecrows. Ask
them to follow your directions.
4. Play Scarecrow Says like Simon Says. For example:
* Scarecrow says, "Wiggle your nose."
* Scarecrow says, "Stomp your floppy feet."
* Scarecrow says, "Wave your floppy arms."
* Scarecrow says, "Make a scary face."
* Scarecrow says, "Say, "Shoo!'"
