Materials

Scallop shells, one for each child White glue

Glitter Electric drill

Narrow ribbon or cord

Instructions

1. Prepare the shells ahead of time by scrubbing them and drilling a hole at the base of each one.

2. Show a scallop shell with both halves attached. Read about shellfish and show pictures, explaining how an animal once lived inside the shell.

3. Demonstrate the easy way to draw a star with the white glue: first make a cross, then an X on top of the cross. Let the children draw their stars with the glue on the concave side of the shell.

4. Sprinkle the glue with glitter and shake off the excess. Allow to dry.

5. Attach a ribbon or cord hanger.
