Instructions

* Place the materials on the children's tables.
What to Do
1. Discuss water, how it is important, and how we can all conserve it.
2. Do the children have any ideas for how to conserve water? Encourage them to
talk about their ideas.
3. Talk about turning off water when it's not being used, not letting water run
when we brush our teeth, and making sure the faucet is completely off so it
doesn't drip.
4. Explain where drinking water comes from (lakes, rivers, or wells).
5. Discuss important facts about water: It is a limited resource. There is only so
much of it. People get sick if they don't have enough water or if their water is
dirty.
6. We can help keep water clean by not throwing trash into any water.
7. Have the children practice writing the letters for the words "water
conservation." If they want, they can draw and color a picture with water in it,
above the words. Sign their names and post this for all to see.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Do the children know where water comes from?
* What are the children's ideas about conserving water?
