variety of measuring cups ( 1/3 cup, 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup, 1 cup)

sand and water table

wet sand

Instructions

1. Ask the children to pack wet sand in each cup and turn them over to release
the sand, making a line of cups of sand.
2. Talk about the cups of sand and compare their sizes.
3. Experiment with using the smaller measuring cups to fill the larger ones and
discuss.
