Materials

A piece of wood (possibly a 2" x 4", about 18" long) 2" nails hammer rubber bands in a variety of sizes

Instructions

1. Hammer nails into the piece of wood in a number of locations at a variety of distances.

2. Add the piece of wood to your music area or set it up in a center along with rubber bands of various sizes.

3. Encourage the children to explore the materials. Ask them to listen to and describe the different sounds they can make by attaching the rubber bands to nails in different locations andplucking the rubber bands with their fingers.
