Instructions
1. Provide real cooking tools for children to slice, press, roll, cut, and imprint
playdough. Be sure to closely supervise this activity if using any sharp
utensils. Explain to the children how to handle these items correctly. To make
this activity more interesting, do not provide cookie cutters.
2. Encourage exploration and experimentation to create different effects.
Explain that many tools can be used to cut as well as make prints by varying
the pressure. Children can use tweezers to pick up small pieces, a plastic fork
to make lines or holes, and cups to roll playdough or cut out circles.
More to do Use tools of other trades such as bolts, pliers, or plumbing parts.
Art: Use cooking tools to dip in paint and make prints.
