Paper plates, one per child

Pictures of round objects cut from magazines or advertising fliers

Glue in cups

Paintbrushes

Instructions

1. Put out an assortment of pictures of round objects. These could include pictures of oranges,beach balls, and the sun and moon.

2. Have the children cover their plate with glue.

3. Invite them to glue pictures of round things on the plate, covering its entire surface.More to doCircle time: Have the children gather in a circle around you, then roll an indoor ball to each child;when they catch the ball, they name an object that is round or spherical.Games: Play circle games such as "Ring around the rosy" and "Here we go 'round the mulberrybush."Math: Sort coins by their size.More art: Construct a mobile with the plates and hang it in front of a window or outside on abreezy day. Roll clay and sculpt round shapes.
