Instructions

What to do
1. Give each child a toilet paper
tube. Help them wrap it in foil
or bubble wrap. Secure the
wrap with glue if necessary.
Help the children punch a
hole on both sides of the tube
and feed the straw, or the
robot's arms, through the
openings.
2. Invite the children to decorate
their robot with some of the
odds and ends. Have the children
affix the decorations with
glue. An adult can secure the
odds and ends with a glue
gun, if desired.
More to do
Dramatic play: Convert an extralarge
cardboard box into a rocket
ship and play a game of
make-believe.
Math: Count backward from 10, preparing for launch.
More art: Cut paper shapes in varying sizes to represent the planets and the sun, then invite the
children to create collages with the leftover decorating odds and ends. Create a rocket ship with a
paper towel tube and paper cone, then decorate with odds and ends.
