Materials
gross motor materials (balls, jump rope, hoops, and so on)
masking tape
tables and other ordinary classroom furniture
Instructions
1. When a child must wait for
others to finish an activity,
lunch, or whatever, ask him
to spray the leaves of a plant.
(Ivy plants are easy to care
for and can get very dusty.)
2. If the child has more time to
spare, ask him to wipe the leaves gently with a cloth.
3. This activity is good for developing eye-hand coordination and learning selfcontrol
(squirting friends can be very hard to resist!). Children also learn to
care for plants.
