Instructions

Ring a bell at cleanup time and then sing a cleanup song of your choice. This
sets the tone for a pleasant cleanup. The following ideas encourage listening
skills and a sense of rhythm. Try any of these during cleanup time:
* Play lively music to set the pace. Stop the music at random times and
have everyone freeze. The children resume cleaning when the music
resumes.
* For a change of pace, play slow music and move in slow motion.
* Have everyone change places during the music breaks and resume
cleaning in another part of the room.
* Set a timer and see if the class can beat it!
* Sing a song with many verses and challenge the children to get the room
clean by the time the song ends.
More to do Movement: Other ways to reinforce body control are to play freeze tag, red
light/green light, or Mother May I?
