Instructions

1. Help the children decorate the windows in the room using washable tempera
paint and paintbrushes.
2. There are many themes you can use. For example, during the winter, children
can create a window snow scene, painting snowmen, sleds, children in snowsuits,
snow angels, snow forts, and snowballs. Create a winter scene that is
typical for your area. (Children love the blizzard look.)
3. Other themes include the ocean, dinosaurs, bugs, and other creepy crawlers.
4. If you have something special in mind, make your own stencils. Using heavy
clear laminate (leftover from other laminated items), trace patterns for each
season, celebration, theme, or event.
5. Cut the heavy clear laminate into different stencils.
6. Spray adhesive (adult only) on the back of the stencil, put it on the window,
and help the children paint. Place and replace the stencil on the window as
often as desired.
7. Encourage the children to experiment using a small foam stencil sponge in a
dabbing motion.
8. If desired, use acrylic paints to make the scene last all year. You can easily
remove the paint with window cleaner.
