Instructions
1. Designate an area on the playground for a "car wash." Make posters for this
area, if desired.
2. Fill buckets with soapy water and add rags or sponges.
3. Ask the children to bring their bikes and any toy trucks or cars you may have
in your room to the car wash area.
4. Encourage the children to wash the dirt off the vehicles, even scrubbing the
tires with toothbrushes.
5. Hose off the soap and let them be on their way!
More to do
Math: Encourage the children to count the "cars" in line.
More Math: Draw parking spaces for the waiting cars. Make sure to write
numbers in the parking spots to help introduce/reinforce number recognition.
Original poem
Five little cars waiting in a line, one got washed and then there were four.
Four little cars waiting in a line, one got washed and then there were three.
Three little cars waiting in a line, one got washed and then there were two.
Two little cars waiting in a line, one got washed and then there were one.
One little car waiting in a line, it got washed and then there were none.
