Pencils

White paper

Thin pieces of carpet

Corncob holders or large pushpins

Instructions

1. Have each child use a pencil to draw a large design on a sheet of paper.

2. The children should place their designs on top of a piece of carpet.

3. Using the point of a corncob holder or pushpin, the children can punch holes in the paperalong the lines of their design.

4. Hang the finished artwork in front of a window so children can see how the light comingthrough the little holes outlines their designs.More to doMore art: Invite the children to turn their artwork over and feel the raised bumps on the otherside. Have the children punch so many holes that their design can be removed from the largerpiece of paper. Let the children try punching out their designs using a hole punch. Suggest thatthe children draw holiday shapes to punch out.
