1. Put safety vests, hard hats, and aprons in the block area to extend the realityof the play.2. Make construction signs, such as "Hard Hat Area" or "Construction Underway."3. Hang the signs and photos of construction sites in the block area.More to doField Trip: To extend the activity, take a field trip to watch constructionunderway, or ask employees from a hardware store to come in and demonstratehow to use some tools.Author note: Some employees from our local hardware store visited and helpedthe children build a planter, and they gave everyone aprons. The children willnever forget it. You can also ask parents to come in and help the children buildsomething.
