Instructions

1. Cover a large box with white paper, leaving the top open. Draw vines and
leaves on the outside of the box. This will be the "pumpkin patch."
2. Make yarn balls using orange rug yarn. Wrap yarn around a 6" piece of
cardboard. When it is the desired size, tie in the middle and cut the loops. It
will look like a big pompom. Make one "pumpkin" for each child.
3. You could also make "pumpkins" by covering balled-up newspaper with
orange tissue paper and tipping the top to look like a stem.
4. Give each child a "pumpkin." Explain that they will take turns trying to throw
their pumpkin into the "pumpkin patch."
5. Sing the following song as each child throws her pumpkin.
Throw the pumpkin in, ___(child's name), dear _____, dear ______.
Throw the pumpkin in, _____.
Throw it right in!
