Materials

newspaper or plastic tablecloth

small pumpkins

knife (adult only)

spoons

bowl

twine

birdseed

Instructions

1. Cover the science table with newspaper or a plastic tablecloth.
2. Cut the pumpkins in half (adult only) and put them on the table with the
spoons. Have the children scoop out the contents and separate the seeds.
3. Place the seeds in a bowl and put aside.
4. Make a hanger for the pumpkin halves using the twine.
5. Have the children fill the halves with birdseed and hang outside the
classroom window or somewhere it can be seen.
6. Wash and bake the seeds for snack.
