Instructions
1. Discuss the heart with the children and show them pictures of it.
2. Ask the children to make a fist and place it in the center of their chests. Explain to the children that this is about the size and location of their hearts.
3. Encourage the children to tightly clench and unclench their fists, explaining that this is similar to how their heart works to pump blood.
4. Recite the following poem with the children:Your HeartYour heart pumps your blood to your fingers and your toesAll through your body, even to your nose!More to do:Provide stethoscopes for the children to listen to their hearts.Field Trips: Take a trip to the school nurse's office or a local doctor's office.
