decorative bag, colorful box, an unusual container, or a plain paper grocery bag

items to put into the bag (see the activity for suggestions).

Instructions

1. Use this activity to fill extra time as children are gathering for story time.
2. Cut out pieces of felt in the shapes and colors of the objects mentioned in
Goodnight Moon.
3. Read the book with the children several times until they are very familiar
with it, and you know it well enough to tell it on the flannel board.
4. Tell the story without the book, using a flannel board and the cut pieces of
felt. The children can follow along and will learn to add the felt pieces
themselves.
