* The third Friday in August is Admission Day in Hawaii. It celebratesHawaii's admission to the Union on August 21st, 1959.1. Talk about Hawaii and explain that it did not become a state until 1959.2. Encourage the children to cut out a variety of scenes from Hawaii travelbrochures.3. Have each child choose a scene and glue it to one side of an index card.4. Let each child dictate a postcard message and write it on the blank sideof the index card.5. Start a classroom post office to "mail" the postcards from Hawaii.
