Instructions
1. Play this game at rest time while the children are sitting on their mats. This
activity helps develop listening skills as the children experience silence.
2. Turn off the lights and ask the children to lie very still and close their eyes.
Ask them to listen carefully to any sounds they hear. Explain that when you
say a child's name, he may tell you what sound he heard.
3. As the children become quite, make a sound, such as clapping your hands,
whistling, walking, or writing on the chalkboard.
4. After each sound, whisper one child's name and let that child name the
sound.
More to do
Transitions: Whisper children's names when it's time to get in line.
