Materials
stuffed rabbit
magic wand
large hat
box
items representing one initial sound (such as pear, pants, puppy, pen, pepper,
popcorn, pocket, and puzzle piece)
Instructions
1. Display the pictures on a table in the storytelling center.
2. Join children as they enter the storytelling center and share the pictures
with them.
3. Ask each child to choose two different characters from two different stories.
4. With the two characters, the children will create a new story focusing on
what might happen if the two characters met. For example, what if the giant
from Jack and the Beanstalk met Cinderella? What would happen if Sleepy
from Snow White met Sleeping Beauty? What if the Wolf from Little Red
Riding Hood met the Gingerbread Man?
5. Provide ample time for children to write (or dictate) their stories. Encourage
them to illustrate their stories when done.
6. When completed, ask for volunteers to share.
