Instructions

1. Visit a pond with the children. Take jars to collect water.
2. After exploring the ponds, return to the classroom and compare the
pond water to tap or distilled water.
3. Ask questions. "Do they look different?" "Do they smell different?"
Safety Note: Do not let children taste the pond water! Many waterborne
organisms can cause serious illness!
4. Encourage the children to use a magnifying glass to explore the water.
