Instructions

1. When you have a few extra moments, try this activity.
2. If possible, before beginning this activity, cut the bottom from the containers
and attach them to a wall at a level that is appropriate for the children in
your class.
3. The children roll pieces of newspaper into the shape of small balls that easily
fit into their hands. Use masking tape to hold the balls in one piece.
4. Get ready for the fun! The children throw the balls in the plastic hoops or old
boxes.
More to do Math: Children can use this as a counting game, counting how many balls they
can put in the hoop. They can also use distance, how far away can they be from
the hoop but still put the balls in. They can then measure the distance or have
another child (or the teacher) record the measurements for them.
Outdoors: Take this activity outside and attach the hoops to a fence.
