Materials

Men's handkerchiefs or similar cloths, or porous paper, pale in color

A plant that was grown or picked by the children; a fern works especially well

A rubber-coated mallet

Instructions

1. Lay the plant on a piece of cloth or paper and fold the cloth over top, covering the plant.

2. Let the children begin to gently hammer the cloth.

3. Unfold the cloth and discard the plant. You should have a beautiful print of the plant on the cloth or paper.

4. You can frame the prints as gifts for parents or use them to make special cards by cutting out the plant print and gluing it to construction paper.
