Materials

sand and water table

12 Ping Pong balls

foam egg carton (washed and rinsed in bleach water)

permanent marker

small fishing net

Instructions

1. Number the Ping Pong balls 1 to 12 with the permanent marker.
2. Number the sections of the egg cartons (1 to 12).
3. Fill the water table with water and add the Ping Pong balls.
4. Invite the children to fish the balls out and put them in the correct section of
the egg carton.
More to do Language and Literacy: This is a fun way to practice letter matching as well.
Label the balls and egg carton sections with letters, for example, a set of
uppercase letters and a set of lowercase.
