Materials

Pinecones (white pines work well)

String

Peanut butter

Small spreading knives

Birdseed

Aluminum pie plates or trays

Instructions

What to do
1. Fill aluminum pie plates or trays with birdseed.
2. Tie a string at the top of each pinecone.
3. Invite the children to spread peanut butter over the cone, gently pushing it into the crevices.
4. Next, have the children roll their cones in birdseed.
5. Take the children outside and let them pick low branches on which to hang their pinecone
feeders.
